The Howard T. Markey National Courts Building houses the United States Court of Federal Claims, the United States Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit. OLBN was tasked with a complete renovation of a dated judge’s chamber, including the chamber proper, office space for staff, and support spaces. The traditional design captures light from the tall bay windows far into the space and maximizes the suite’s view to the White House. Bright cornsilk yellow walls with white millwork and casework warm the space, and a chocolate-stained wide plank wood floor adds to the warm color palette while providing visual contrast. To assist the client in visualizing the space, OLBN created a series of detailed design development renderings, including specific finishes and furniture.
